57. After the UN Security Council condemned North Korea as the aggressor, Truman--with no Congressional permission--sent American air and naval units, as well as General MacArthur's troops (stationed in Japan at the time) to South Korea to help.

This says, horrifyingly, like almost everyone of its companions "Death to US imperialists, our sworn enemy!" 

58. "Officially" the US was merely a participant in a wider campaign of United Nations "police action," but the US was really the main contender in the matter, and US troops were obeying Washington's orders, not the UN's.

59. MacArthur's error was to underestimate the strength of China's fighting ability. Ashamed of his defeat, he blockaded the Chinese coast and bombed some Chinese bases in Manchuria. However, this was at odds with the presidential administration's policies because the US did not need to widen the Korean conflict and risk war with the USSR.

60. MacArthur was fired by Truman when he refused to quit fighting the Korean War in China against presidential orders.
